APICC is proud to present “Seh Kui: Community is In the Heart” with Genny Lim as this year’s FEATURED ARTIST for the 25th Annual United States of Asian America Festival. We are honored to feature this program at GENERATIONS OF POWER, an outdoor showcase of performances taking place at Japantown Peace Plaza on May 14th.
“Seh Kui: Community is In the Heart” is a music and poetry performance by The Last Hoisan Poets and Del Sol String Quartet, celebrating community through intercultural and intergenerational artistic exchange.
Poetry readings by The Last Hoisan Poets (Genny Lim, Nellie Wong and Flo Oy Wong) will address Asian American history and issues of the heart – from the suffering and pain caused by racism and violence to moments of joy and celebration. Del Sol Quartet performs musical works by Asian American composers, including a world premiere composition by Charlton Lee.
The program will also premiere a new work,“Seh Kui: Community is In the Heart,” created by the featured artists working in partnership with new voices – mentees Alaina Gupta, Karen Weller, Lynn Huang, Felicia Lee, Isidore Lu.
Artists and community sharing space and power, united against hate, moving forward together with love.
