Changing Woman

by GENNY LIM

Sometimes the circle breaks

And the woman meets the child

face to face

Each one seeing for the first time

Her strength in the other

Sometimes the circle unfolds and

their hands reach out into the crosswinds

Brushing aside the darkness which

keeps them apart

Sometimes they see themselves

and laugh at their own foolish ways

It is fear and pride which punish them

And when they reach that place

where all roads join

and life coalesces

woman becomes child

child becomes woman

and all that is is forgiven
